12 Washington Terrace aka "The Harry Lesser House" in St. Louis, MO was designed in 1910 by Architects - Mauran & Russell. Construction of both the main house and garage was completed by 1911 by Builders - Godfrey & Hirsch. The house was built for Harry Lesser of the Lesser-Goldman Cotton Company of St. Louis.

The 1920 census records indicate that Harry was approximately 27 years old when the house was built and lived at the home with family: wife, Jessie M; daughter, Marjorie M; and sons Julius and Harry Jr. Harry also had four hired servants: Anna A Lehman, waitress; Mamie Pott, servant; Caroline Geiken, trained nurse; and John A. Kimball, house man. By 1930, he had another boy, Robert C. and five hired servants: Theresa Sheck, servant; Ann Duly, servant; Aline Loida, servant; Isabel Summan, servant; and John A. Kimball, house man.
